Sit at Home: SE Governors Should Approach Tinubu together for Kanu's Release - ASMATA Patron urges Soludo
The Patron, Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) and President General, Building Materials International Market (BMIM), Chief Jude Nwankwo (Ochendo Umuawulu) has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to synergize with other South East Governors and legislators to approach President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in one voice for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The appeal is coming ahead of the scheduled December 15 Supreme court judgement on federal government's appeal against judgement of the Court of Appeal which had earlier discharged and acquitted Kanu of all the charges of treasonable felony and consequently ordered his unconditional release.
It is common knowledge that for several years now the economy of the South East States have depleted having lost billions of naira on prospective revenues. Likewise traders in the South East have lost businesses and customers to neighboring states because of the continuos Monday and other forms of incessant flagrant sit at home orders by sympathizers under the guise of pledging loyalty and showing their displeasure to the continued incarceration of the IPOB leader.
"This sit at home is affecting everyone especially we traders in Anambra State because we are known for trading but you cannot force somebody to come and stay in his shop when prospective customers are not ready to come and buy on a Monday.
"We market leaders agreed to be opening markets on Monday because it is an important business day but people are afraid to go about their businesses despite the promise and presence of security patrol teams on Mondays.
"To find a lasting solution to sit at home and the consequent insecurity in the South East. I advise all the South East Governors to.go together to Abuja and negotiate the release of Nnamdi Kanu because he has done nothing wrong.
"Kanu is just a freedom fighter and he has the right to self determination. Let them free him through political dialogue".
"Soludo had been trying all alone to seek Kanu's release but that is as an individual. Since he came into office as the governor he has made several attempts requesting for the release of Nnamdi Kanu from Buhari's regime to Tinubu's presidency. Sometimes ago, he specifically requested to be handed over Nnamdi Kanu claiming he could ensure that Kanu does not constitute a problem outside custody".
" I believe that if Soludo combines force together with the other four governors, National Assembly members in the Senate and House of Representatives from the five South East States and push for Nnamdi Kanu's freedom, he will be released," said Nwankwo.
