Heavy Downpour Renders Houses, Shops Shattered In Umunze, Anambra State

Yesterday, heavy downpour shattered several houses and shops in Umunze, Orumba South, Anambra state.

In a short video which surfaced online captures the moment this reporter took videos of the situation. The rains had started sparingly in the evenings around 6pm. While, returning from a camp visit at Ogbunka (which shares border with Isuochi, Abia state). The heavy downpour made vehicular movement herculean. The roads leading to the Umunze roundabout was overflooded.

Meanwhile, in an interview with a resident in the area, Timothy by name bemoaned the epileptic situation to waste and bad drainage, " any drop of water will cease vehicular movement from the First bank axis to the Roundabout junction. This has caused many of us loss of properties."

In a chit-chat, a commercial driver of Ekwulobia Mass Transit who spoke to this reporter appealed to the Solution led government to intervene on the situation.

His words,"the flooding happens because the drainage is filled up with waste. We plead with government to intervene on this matter to avoid more losses to traders and people."
