TOPIC: THE POWER OF PRAYER AND FASTING.
SCRIPTURE: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6:18.
Prayer is one avenue of power for the child of God. No one is more powerful than his prayer life.
We shall consider the power of prayer in our Study today:
i. Prayer, and of course fasting, is key to supernatural open door encounters.
Prayer is the key to encounters that usher lives into new realms. Prayer is key to supernatural open door encounters; visionary encounters, revelatory encounters (Acts 10:9, 10).
Peter had encounters while he was praying and fasting.
If you are trusting God for encounters that will open doors of Ministry, business, career and destiny, etc. then the altar of prayer and fasting must be maintained.
ii. Prayer and fasting is a vital weapon for the deliverance of the saints from the plots and captivities of the enemy (Acts 12:4-5).
Herod arrested James and cut off his head. When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he went for Peter. But prayer was made without ceasing by the Church unto God for Peter. And he was delivered. Peter would have been killed like James if not for the prayers of the saints.
So, whenever it is time to pray, pray with all your heart because your life depends on your prayer. When you have the opportunity to pray for someone in trouble, just as Peter was prayed for by the Church, please pray seriously. If you pray carelessly or half-heartedly when someone is in trouble, when you need deliverance, others will pray for you like that because life is a seed. So, make up your mind to take prayer seriously.
Make up your mind to pray with passion and concentration. Attack every laziness in prayer and make up your mind to pray always.
PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from every form of lethargy in prayer. I receive the grace to pray fervently without ceasing, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
