ABUJA, August 11, (THEWILL) – Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan today effected minor changes to his cabinet.

Former Minister of State, Finance, Mr. Remi Babalola was redeployed to the Ministry of Special Duties as Minister, while the former Minister of Special Duties, Retired Navy Captain. Caleb Olubolade now becomes Minister of State, FCT.

The New Minister of State for Finance is Hajia Yabawa Lawan Wabi. She assumed duty today at the Finance Headquarters in Abuja, with a pledge to work towards ensuring that Nigeria meets her developmental agenda as enshrined in vision 20-20-20.

Babalola who handed over to Hajia Wabi recalled his experience with three consecutive Ministers of Finance namely; Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, Dr. Mansur Muhtar and now Mr. Aganga said he enjoyed a good working relationship with them.

He said his movement to Special Duties was a call to serve having spent more than three years on the saddle as Minister of State for Finance and also survived several cabinet reshuffles.

THEWILL had exclusively reported last week that Mr. Remi Babalola would be moved from the Ministry of Finance over comments he made on the financial state of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Other appointments include Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, who becomes the Minister of State for Education, and Hajia Salamatu Suleiman, who assumes duties as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

They were sworn in at today’s Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
