LAGOS, August 11, (THEWILL) - A newly registered political party, Mega Progressive People’s Party (MPPP) has attributed over ambition as a reason why former military leader, General Muhammad Buhari, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Balarabe Musa left Mega Summit Movement

The party also laid the blames of the country’s dwindling fortunes, poverty, poor economic situation and blurred international image on the failure of the Presidency and ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying the clarion call in the country is to replace the party’s bad governance with good governance.

National Chairman of the party, Chief Rashidi Shitta-Bey stated this today during a world news conference to launch the party at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, saying the national leaders could not stay long in the Mega Summit Movement because they are over-ambitious and domineering.

He said Buhari and Atiku only "care to lead the country without working hard for the position, but promised that MPPP would cancel quota system and re-arrange vital structures in the federal system and decentralize the Nigeria Police if it wins the 2011 presidential election."

Speaking on ‘Politics of New Understanding- Redefining Leadership through Genuine Service’, the national leader of the party named Chief Anthony Enahoro, Muhammadu Buhari, Balarabe Musa, Atiku Abubakar and Chief Olu Falae among others with whom Mega Summit Movement was formed before it transformed to Mega Party.

He said: "We started as Mega Summit Movement with notable political leaders like Chief Enahoro, General Buhari, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Chief Olu Falae, Alhaji Balarabe Musa and others, at a stage, due to over-ambition, some fell by the way side."

He said Falae, Atiku and Buhari joined forces together and formed National Democratic Movement (NDM). "We at the summit were not happy with this idea and we queried them on why they did that and their response was that they founded NDM to pave way for more northerners to join the Mega Summit."

Shitta-Bey however explained that the NDM collapsed because it is obvious they "cannot work together and that they are over ambitious. When their NDM collapsed, they could not return to us, they never came back to the Mega Summit. Today, we are happy to announce the registration of our party where some of them have returned to where they came from."

Shitta-Bey said major progressives from across the country decided to form the party for the actualization of the "Politics of New Understanding" that will serve the needs and wishes of Nigerians.
