Three Speakership Aspirants Step Down For APC’s ‘Anointed’ Tajudeen Abbas

By Damilare Adeleye

Three speakership aspirants including the majority leader of the House of Representatives, Ado Doguwa, have withdrawn from the race for the 10th House of Representatives and endorsed Tajudeen Abbas.

Doguwa led two other aspirants, Abubakar Makki and Tunji Oluwuyi to withdraw from the race on Wednesday during a meeting organised by the joint task group.

The Nigerian Voice understands that APC endorsed Abbas and Ben Kalu for the speaker and deputy speaker positions, even though the development caused protests among some other aspirants.

Doguwa had earlier joined the other aspirants to form a coalition to challenge Abbas.

However, in a surprise twist, he has now pulled out of the race, saying that he cannot go against the party.
