Shock As Popular Nollywood Actor Murphy Afolabi Is Dead After Celebrating Birthday

The Nigerian movie industry has been thrown into a mourning mood after a popular Nollywood star, Murphy Afolabi, is reported dead.

The Nigerian Voice learnt that the 49-year-old popular Yoruba actor died in the early hours of Sunday in his residence.

Unconfirmed reports, however, had it that the deceased slumped in bathroom before passing away.

Reacting to the development, Veteran film director and producer, Tunde Ola-Yusuf confirmed the passing via his Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.

“Rest in peace. May God give the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss,” he wrote.

The Nigerian Voice recalls that the deceased celebrated his birthday recently on Friday, May 5.

Murphy, who started his career with a movie titled ‘Ifa Olokun’ under Dagunro’s guidance, featured in and produced scores of others.
