NO SITTING UNTIL… – OGUN ASSEMBLY

By NBF News

The authorities of the Ogun State House of Assembly over the weekend reacted to the three fetish pots at the Assebmly complex describing it as uncalled for, unfortunate, absurd and condemnable.

According to the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mr. Tokunbo Oshin, 'it is an abomination of the highest order. We did not, as members of the hallowed chamber, warrant what happened. Although the Assembly complex is a public place for all the people of the state, it does not mean it should be polluted in the name of politics.

'Let me quickly say that no member of the current 26-member Assembly will sit to deliberate on any issue in that chamber except there is a spiritual cleansing. This is because the complex has been desecrated and polluted.

''We are not ready to sacrifice any lawmaker for the situation in Ogun State. That is why we have adjourned the plenary until further notice when we feel our security, both within and outside the complex, is guaranteed by the appropriate authorities.'

On what could be responsible for the pollution of the Assembly with fetish, Oshin, who was the former deputy speaker to the impeached Speaker, Hon. Titi Oseni between 2003 and 2007 said: 'Whatever the cause or causes, it is totally absurd for anybody to carry charms and concoction to the hallowed chamber of the Assembly.

'On bond, our stand remains that the executive should do the proper thing. No matter the amount the government wants from the stock market, it must be properly presented and we still need to subject it to public debate to know the position of Ogun State people on the issue. We cannot afford to put the people of the state in bondage.'
