Peter Obi’s Remarks As Labour Party Slashes The Price Of Governorship Nomination Forms

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded presidential election, Peter Obi, has given kudos to the party for reducing the price of its governorship nomination form.

The Nigerian Voice learnt that LP affirmed yesterday that the nomination forms for the off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states is now N15 million, contrary to the earlier price of N25 million.

Reacting to the development, Obi said he has advised that the price which was similar to what is obtainable in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, be reduced.

He also extended gratitude to the leadership.of the party for heeding his plea to refund N25 million to the family of late Imo governorship aspirant, who died after purchasing the form.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday after meeting with members of the National Assembly-Elect of the party, the national chairman of the LP Julius Abure, said that the party will refund the N25 million nomination fee paid by late Imo State governorship aspirant, Humphrey Anumudu.

“I thank the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure, and the NWC for heeding to my appeal, and reviewing the nomination fee for the governorship form downwards to N15m.

“I applaud them for also agreeing to refund the cost of the form to the family of a deceased aspirant Chief Humphrey Anumudu from Imo State; and agreeing to refund N10m to each of those that had paid,” Peter Obi said in a series of tweets.
