Two persons have been reported dead after some thugs attacked campaign offices of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

It was learnt that beyond the two casualties, properties worth millions of naira were also destroyed when the unknown thugs invaded the APC campaign offices in the state.

According to reports, the incident happened on Monday after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dauda Lawal, as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

ut, the Coordinator of the Tinubu/ Shetima Presidential Campaign Council in Zamfara, Kabiru Marafa, confirmed the incident on Thursday.

Marafa told journalists after inspecting the affected campaign offices that the party cannot quantify the monetary value of the level of damage to the various facilities.

The APC chieftain who condemned the attack said: “The hoodlums vandalised the party’s buildings — broke the ceiling, tiles, roofing sheets, vehicles, generators and chairs, television, and table among others.

“After the election of 18th of March and the results declared, PDP was declared the winner. By morning, we got calls that our offices have been vandalized and in the last two hours I have been going around to check the damages.”

Marafa however called on political leaders to call their supporters to order to prevent the recurrence of this situation in the future.

Meanwhile, the police authorities in the state are yet to comment on the issue as of the time of filing this report.
