ACCI To Spearhead Funding Of Infrastructure At UniAbuja

By Clement Alphonsus

ACCI President, Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar has said the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) is spearheading the funding of infrastructure development at the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) special economic free trade zone.

ACCI President made the disclosure yesterday, during a short visit to the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) in Abuja. He said: “We are here on an official visit to NEPZA to quickly process the license for quick take-off of the project, more so that the University has earlier approved sufficient acres of land for the zone”.

According to him, ACCI is partnering with the University to establish a free trade zone, which is first of its kind. He noted that the benefit will be to encourage the private sector to set up industries and open up commerce alongside learning and research.

“It is one thing to learn in the class and another to practice what we have learnt. The zone will afford the students and lecturers to open up to practicals as much as possible. We are only waiting for the license from NEPZA for take off but hopefully very soon”.

In his response, the Managing Director of NEPZA, Professor Adesoji Adesugba promised to facilitate the issuance of the license to ACCI for quick take off of the project.
