Eight Persons Die As Lagos Truck Falls On Commercial Bus

At least, eight persons have reportedly been killed after a truck fell on a commercial bus at Ojuelegba, inwards Fadeyi, Lagos State, on Sunday.

According to reports, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officials were at the scene of the incident trying to rescue the victims.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Permanent Secretary of the State Traffic Authority, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said: “A container laden truck has fallen on a bus at Ojuelegba, inwards Fadeyi. The effort is currently being made towards rescue and evacuation.”

“Recovery of the fallen container is still ongoing, though it has been taken off on top of the minibus but is yet to be completely removed from the location, traffic is still on hold, and we have a backlog of traffic presently at Alaka.

“Kindly exercise patience or find an alternative if you are not trapped in the traffic,” he added.

An eyewitness said the truck driver wanted to block the bus from overtaking him.

It was also learnt that only one out of nine passengers involved was rescued alive.
