A new General Overseer has been elected for the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.

He is Rev Felix Meduoye, a chartered accountant-turned gospel minister. At a mini convention held yesterday at Ajebo, Ogun State campground of the church, delegates from across the country cast 1, 779 votes to elect him.

Rev Moses Alawode polled 540 to come second while Rev Dr Ola Adeogun came third with 173 votes. The constitution of the church prescribes a second ballot between whoever comes first and second but Rev Alawode declined, saying 'Nobody should be in doubt that God has spoken. I therefore step down from the second ballot.'

Meduoye, the new General Overseer succeeds Rev Dr Wilson Badejo, whose tenure ended last November. He will be formally inaugurated in November, during the Annual Convention of the church. Maduoye retired from West Africa Milk Company as Executive Director, Finance and Administration to go into full time ministry.
