The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared AbdulKareem AbdulSalam Zaura, better known as A.A Zaura, wanted over financial scandal.

A.A Zuara, as popularly called, is the Kano Central senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), The Nigerian Voice reports.

The APC chieftain was declared wanted in relation to an alleged $1.3million fraud case preferred against him by a Kuwaiti national.

The EFCC lawyer, Ahmed Rogha, told journalists this development on Monday in Kano, saying a manhunt has been launched for Zaura and he would be picked up as soon as he is located.

It was learnt that the politician is standing trial before the Federal High Court sitting in Kano but the case couldn’t proceed today because of the absence of the trial judge who is said to be on other national assignments.

“We are looking for Zaura and he will be arrested as soon as we find him. Ordinarily, he was supposed to be in our custody and the court has affirmed that but I can assure you he would be arrested and brought to court for the next adjourned date January 30, 2023,” the counsel stated.

Meanwhile, while speaking to newsmen, the counsel to the accused, Ibrahim Waru, faulted the move by the EFCC to arrest his client.

The lawyer argued that his client under the law was not compelled to appear before the court, insisting Zaura’s appeal was pending before the Supreme Court.
