Don't Pay Any Fee To Facilitate Job Application, Interview Or Employment - Cyber Security Advocate, Rotimi Onadipe Warns Job Seekers

A cyber security advocate, Mr. Rotimi Onadipe has warned members of the public against giving anyone money to facilitate job application, interview or employment.

Mr. Onadipe, Executive Director of Onadipe Technologies and Founder, Internet Safety Magazine, gave the warning in Ibadan on Saturday, November 19, 2022 during his organisation's cyber security awareness campaign, with the theme: "Say No to Internet Abuse, Say Yes to Internet Safety."

Mr. Onadipe noted that scammers are taking advantage of vulnerable individuals that are desperately searching for employment opportunities online and offline.

He said: "Yesterday, I interviewed and counseled a victim that was defrauded through what I can describe as job scam."

"I felt very sad when the victim told me how she sold her landed property and other valuable items and gave the money to a scammer to facilitate her job interview and employment. She said she almost committed suicide when she discovered it was a scam.

"Why do you have to give someone money to facilitate a job application, interview or employment in the first place? Why do you have to sell your landed property or any valuable item because you want to get a job? This is a sure sign that it is a scam.

"Please if anyone asks you to pay any fee to facilitate an employment opportunity, ignore such a person and don't give him/her your personal information," he added.
