Gov. Wike Fires Fresh Shot At Ayu As PDP G-5 Governors Storm Rivers For Campaign Flag-off

By Damilare Adeleye

Governor Nyesom Wike has again described the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, as being very corrupt.

The governor stated this while speaking at the 2022 Rivers State PDP campaign flag-off and unveiling of the party’s governorship candidate, Sim Fubara, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, on Saturday.

Wike stated that the PDP chairman can not lead the state to campaign for the 2023 elections.

He said the people of Rivers State are hurt because of the injustice being meted out to the state.

“I repeat it that Ayu is very corrupt. A man that is corrupt cannot lead me and cannot lead my state to campaign,” Wike remarked.

Wike alongside other G5 governors has been at loggerheads with Ayu and the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The aggrieved PDP governors are calling for the resignation or removal of Ayu as a condition to support Atiku’s presidential ambition.

The G-5 governors are also calling for fairness, equity and justice in the party ahead of the 2023 race.

The Governors are against northern dominance in key positions in the party.

The G-5 governors include Wike, Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State).
