2023 Presidency: Fayose Tasks PDP To  Negotiate With Peter Obi, Labour Party

By Damilare Adeleye

The former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has asked the leadership of the People's Democratic Party PDP to negotiate with Labour Party and its presidential flag-bearer, Peter Obi, ahead of the next year's presidential election.

The PDP chieftain who stated this while answering questions during an interview on Channels TV, said Obi could affect the chances of the PDP in the 2023 polls.

Speculations have also had it that with Obi, who was PDP Vice-President candidate in 2019, but now in the 2023 presidential race, PDP votes may be divided in the forthcoming election.

However, Fayoso stated that the former Governor of Anambra may not secure the required 25 per cent of votes in two-thirds of the states to be declared the winner.

He therefore called on his party to negotiate with Obi and also reconcile with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his allies in order to win the presidency.

According to Mr Fayose, “Obi is a danger to watch out for. I don’t believe Obi will make 25 per cent of votes in two-thirds of the states of the federation.

“I’m not against Obi. I love him and he is a very vibrant leader. I don’t believe he will get the required 25 per cent of votes because of my permutation as Ayodele Fayose, but with God, nothing shall be impossible.

“Let me say Obi is more of chronic cancer to PDP and there is no denying it.

“Let me give you an analysis. In the southwest, people might not like to hear that, I don’t see how PDP will win. Anybody deceiving us can continue to deceive us. ’’

He said he does not see how the main opposition party will win in the South-East, adding that the South-South will be a combination of all interests.

Speaking on the key parts of the North, Fayose said, “Without deceiving ourselves, there is so much work to do in the north-central. PDP and APC did not pick any candidate, either presidential or vice-presidential, from the north-central. The northeast is where the vice-presidential candidate of APC comes from.

“We will give Adamawa state to our party. Don’t forget there is still another Kwankwaso who is a semi-cancer that can equally upstage figures in the north.

“Reconciling or negotiating with Obi will be a good thing and finding a way to make peace with these Wike people will be a good thing too.”
