A total of 62 Nigerian lawyers who applied for the coveted title have been announced to be successful.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) is a professional title that may be conferred on Nigerian lawyers who have distinguished themselves in the legal career. It is usually conferred on practitioners of not less than 10 years’ experience.

According to Wikipedia, “..the conferment is made in accordance with the Legal Practitioners Act 207 Section 5 (1) by the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee, headed by the Chief Justice (as Chairman)”. The title was first conferred on April 3, 1975.

Among the successful candidates is Emmanuel Idemuda Oboh. He is listed as number seven. He began a journey in the legal profession in 1988 after successful completion of Nigerian Law School program in Lagos and subsequent call to bar in the same year. Prior to that, he acquired a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B) from Bendel State University, presently known as Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State. An old student of Government College Ughelli in Delta State, he became a ‘notary public’ in 2009 . “A notary public is deemed to be an officer of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and has the power to attest to the authenticity of a document and such document will be recognised internationally for any purpose it is meant for”. In 1990, he incorporated Emman .I. Oboh & Associates, a legal firm which he is the Principal.

In the course of his legal career, Mr Emmanuel Idemuda Oboh has done extensive legal research covering both civil and criminal litigation and commercial transactions. Banks and other financial institutions have subscribed to his services and professional consultations. He has severally prosecuted criminal and civil litigations up to the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He is the author of: “Rhodes – Vivour JSC: The Final Verdict Vol. I &II.

Prominent among the cases that he has prosecuted are:
