Court Remands Herbalist Over 800k Fraud In Osun

A Magistrates Court sitting in Ilesha, Osun State, has ordered the immediate detention of a 22-year-old man, Kehinde Ola, in Ilesha Correctional Centre over alleged N800,000 fraud.

Inspector Jimoh Mufutau, the led- Prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in February at Iyemogun Street,in Ilesha.

He said that the suspect unlawfully and fraudulently obtained the sum of N800,000 from one Adesoji Omolewa under the pretext of taking care of her mother who was sick.

He said that Kehinde Ola later converted the money to his own use.

He said the offence contravenes Sections 383, 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Meawhile, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count bothering on fraud and illegal conversion.

The Chief Magistrate of the court, O.A. Oloyade, rejected bail application for defendant, and ordered his remand at Ilesa correctional centre, pending the consideration of his bail.
