2023: Peter Obi Meets Gov. Wike In Closed-Door

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has paid a visit to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Wednesday at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the State capital.

Obi who was ushered in after his arrival at the residence, had a meeting with the governor behind closed doors.

After the meeting, neither of the duo told journalists the purpose of the meeting.

However, it was suspected that the meeting may not be unconnected to political realignment ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Governor Wike is widely speculated to be planning to defect from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after losing the party's presidential ticket and vice presidential slot respectively to Atiku Abubakar, the party’s 2023 standard-bearer.

He is also is believed to be currently disgruntled following the emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as vice-presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 presidential election.
