ILAKA SENATORIAL ASPIRANT, CANVASES SUPPORT FOR INEC

By NBF News

Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senatorial aspirant in the Oyo Central Senatorial District, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, has emphasised the need for Nigerians to have confidence in the ability of the newly reconstituted INEC to midwife free and fair elections next year-Ilaka in a chat with Daily Sun in Ibadan, praised President Goodluck Jonathan for listening to the people by dropping two alleged PDP members who are in the INEC.

According to him, it is expedient for Nigerians to have faith in the commission assuring that Prof. Attahiru Jega is a democrat per excellence and would not compromise his integrity:

'We all too know the pedigree of Jega. He is a radical and a revolutionist and I am sure of his ability to deliver a free and fair election.' Ilaka hailed Jonathan in overhauling the electoral body saying that anything short of this would affect the psych of the voters. He maintained that the President has convinced Nigerians of his total commitment to providing an enduring electoral process in the country by his utterances and actions since assuming office.

The senatorial hopeful, however, emphasized the need for Nigerians to continue their support for the PDP insisting that 'it is the only political party that can proffer solutions to the Nation's problems.' He described the other opposing political parties as absolutely incapable of steering the ship of the country saying 'they lacked the political will to rule sufficiently.'

The party chieftain, however, called on the various security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities lamenting that the present situation is unbearable: 'It is imperative at this juncture to call on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ogbonaiya Onovo, to beam his searchlight on those visiting mayhem on Nigerians.

'We are no longer save in the country. This is working against our development as no reasonable investor would invest in a volatile environment.' Ilaka assured the electorate in the Oyo Central Senatorial District of his resolve to improve their living standard by providing their basic needs if elected into office. He called on the voters to vote massively for the PDP in its resolve to take the country to greater height in all areas of human endeavours.
