The National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has once again recognised Mr Tochukwu Okorie as its authentic Chairman in Ebonyi State.

This was made known in a letter dated 31st May 2022 and addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and signed by the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyochia Ayu and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, .

The letter explained that it's decision was in obedience to a judgement by the Appellate court which upturned the judgement of a Federal High Court that hitherto recognised Mr Silas Onu.

It could be recalled that there has been leadership debacle in Ebonyi State Chapter of the People's Democratic Party between Mr Tochukwu Okorie who was elected Chairman in the party's state Executive Election last year and Mr Silas Onu who served as the Publicity Secretary of the Party on acting capacity.

Miffed by the outcome of the Election, Mr Onu filed a suit at the Federal High Court Abuja claiming that he was the only candidate who purchased form for the position of the party's Chairmanship.

In its judgement, the Federal High Court granted Mr Onu all the reliefs sought prompting immediate swearing in of the plaintiff by a notary public.

However, Mr Okorie proceeded to Appeal Court for a stay pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Though, it was granted, Mr Onu held onto power claiming that there was an order of the Federal High Court restraining the application of a stay on a judgement that had been implemented.

With the recognition of Mr Tochukwu Okorie, the last is yet to be heard as Mr Onu had already conducted Primary Elections into some Elective positions for some factional Aspirant
