Re: Cold-blooded, Ethnic, Extra-judicial, And Sectarian Murder Of Miss Deborah Samuel

By The Polytechnic of Ibadan Alumni (1974-1979) Patriots' Forum

Dear Mesdames/Sirs,
We, members of The Ibadan Polytechnic Alumni (1974-1979) Patriots' Forum send greetings to you but quickly announce to you our individual and collective grief at the heinous, cruel and savage murder of Miss Deborah Samuel, a student of Alhaji Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, accused of blasphemy.

This gory killing is unacceptable on many grounds, not the least of which is that it is ethnic, sectarian, and extra-judicial.

At the minimum, we want to request you to take a public position NOW, and then throw in everything you have and can, to ensure that the ring leaders of this evil face the law.

Going forward in the immediate, the position you occupy makes a public declaration an imperative for you. We challenge you to speak out. Be reminded Mesdames/Sirs that Nigeria, our nation, is a democracy and as one, The Rule of Law is the foundation on which the country rests, a pillar on which it leans and a compass that should show the direction of governance.

It is thus non-negotiable, irreducible and minimum.

Going further forward, we plan to remain engaged on this hideous and dastardly crime with you and others like you to ensure that we see the end of this matter and others that dodge this Nation and stop any re-occurence.

It is universally accepted that the Nigerian space is badly governed and we as Patriots are determined, from hence, to contribute more consciously to right those wrongs within the ambit of the Law so that our lives and those of downtrodden Nigerians would be lived as human beings.

We thank you as you go forward with our request.
Yours faithfully,
