Bashir Ahmad Resigns As Media Aide To President Muhammadu Buhari

The Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media and Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad, has resigned his appointment following his principal’s directive that political appointees within his cabinet who are vying for political offices to quit their positions.

Ahmad is seeking to become member of the House of Representatives nomination under the platform of All progressives Congress to represent Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu in the Lower Chamber.

Though, as at the time of this report, Bashir Ahmad, is yet to make official statement regarding his resignation, however checks by news correspondent on Wednesday evening showed that Ahmad had removed the bio “Personal Assistant on New Media to @MBuhari, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” from his profile on Twitter.

Presently, he wrote to be ‘Digital Communication Enthusiast’ on his profile.

Ahmad, who is one of the youngest aides of Buhari having been appointed at 24, is contesting against the incumbent occupier of the seat, Mahmoud Abdullahi Gaya, who is also of the ruling APC.

Recently, while showing his nomination forms, he tweeted: “Just completed filling my part of the form and the rest will be done by my constituents, the good people of Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu LGs in Kano, whom I will by God’s grace be representing in the House of Representatives. May Allah (SWT) grant us VICTORY!”
