Reconstruction Rehabilitation And Resettlement: Gov. Zulum Visits Malam Fatori, Abadam LGA

- Inspected ongoing reconstruction activities comprising 1000 shelters, boreholes, Security fence and other social amenities.

- Said resettlement of IDPs is within the provisions of the Kampala Convention

The Executive Governor of Borno State Professor Babagana Umara Zulum Was in Malam Fatori town, the headquarters of Abadam Local Government this morning. The visit was to Inspect the ongoing Reconstruction Exercise by the high powered Committee on the return of IDPs to their Town.

It can be recalled that, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has been pursuing the Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement in the areas affected by the insurgency to enable the IDPs return to their ancestoral home in a dignified manner and also allow them build resilience for self reliance.

While Breifing news men shortly after his inspection, the Gov. Zulum expressed satisfaction with the level of work so far achieved by the committee which includes digging of trenches around the town, the construction of temporary shelter by the Ministry of RRR, construction of a mega borehole, a health facility and clearance of the whole town.

On the Temporary shelters, the Governor explained that the state government is giving out financial support to the returnees to build there houses which will see to the destruction of the temporary ones in the end.

The Chairman of the high powered committee Engr. Bukar Talba who is the Commissioner of Agriculture said, a 1000 shelters have been completed and very soon the profiling of 500 IDPs will commence.

At FOB Military base Malam Fatori, the Governor appreciated the efforts of the Military in the fight against Insurgency. He called on them to maintain the tempo. He announced that, additional operational vehicles will be provided to the Military, CJTF, hunters and vigilantes.
