While going through the Facebook feed on Jan. 2 2022, I saw someone posted the picture of Singer Onyeka Onwenu with the inscription “@70”. I was flummoxed.

I knew that Onwenu was a bewitching beauty and this didn’t give me the thought that she was up to 70, hence I went online to see her profile and was surprised that she would indeed be 70 by January 31 having been born in 1952.

Having enjoyed the fill of my eyes with the pictures of her 69th birthday which without a doubt posited her as a rebel of beauty, I decided to, at least, write of Onwenu today, not knowing what my schedule would be by month end.

The magic in Onwenu’s youthful look is steadfast that she never changed. I would not like to use the word s*xy to appraise Onwenu’s luminous look to avoid critics’ altar of yearning for carnal craving.

I have looked at the pictures of Onwenu just for the puzzlement that she was 70 and I saw a woman who lives with grace and the carriage of an empress that any man with existence would pause at such a beauty that shines in the eyes and smelts the soul.

Onwenu could be one of the most beautiful designs among beautiful creatures, with a beauty radiating like a flower planted on the surface of the moon that its uniqueness isn’t only mind engaging but also empathetic of a lasting beauty.

Oh, no! In Onwenu, I remember Danny Castillones Sillada’s “The Phenomenology of Beauty in a Woman”, saying, “How to appreciate the beauty of a woman: First, close your eyes without any lust or sexual desire, then feel the softness of her body, her delicate hands, her eyes, her lips, her bre*sts, her thighs.

Sillada continued: Second, soak your soul in her mind, feel the vortex of her inner needs and desires, listen to the rhythmic sound of her joys and sorrows, and tiptoe on the matrix of her dreams and longings. As soon as you imagine and understand these nuances in a woman, you’ll immediately feel a strange sensation of warmth and nurturing presence, almost maternal, like a gentle breeze in the sea or the fragrance of flowers in the forest. You see, her beauty does not reside in her physical appearance—whoever she is and no matter how she looks—because she, the woman herself, is the definition, the embodiment, and the birthplace of beauty.

Except those close to her that might say the contrary, Onwenu's beauty buttresses her as one with a good heart and not like those with a vital organ such as a good heart is missing in them. I am wondering how many men's minds preyed on Onwenu as a teenager because she is not like some women who look beautiful; she is just the beauty. I believe that her heart is too beautiful being the reason she is not getting old @ 70, vibrating with energy and outrageously chubby smile.

Only if roses could talk, I am inadvertently wishing her a blissful 70th Birthday for pushing the world not to get old age wrong.
