As christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ known as Christmas, the leading Ebonyi State gubernatorial aspirant in the oncoming 2023 general elections and member representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anayo Peter Edwin-Nwoñu, has wished his constituents and teeming supporters peaceful Christmas celebrations and prayed God to shower the people with both the spiritual and material benefits of the celebration. In a press statement which he issued from his constituency office in Ebonyi State, the federal lawmaker who is equally the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions equally charged his constituents and the entire Ebonyi people who have attained the age of franchise but have no voters card to endeavour to register and obtain their voters card within this yuletide.

According to representative Edwin-Nwoñu, "As christians commemorate the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ, I wish to warmly felicitate with the good people of Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency and indeed my supporters across the length and breadth of Ebonyi State.

"As I pray God to shower spiritual and material benefits of Christmas on my people, I wish my people a peaceful and hitch-free Christmas celebration. May I also charge all Ebonyi people who have attained the age of franchise but have not gotten their respective valid voters card to also make out time to ensure that they register and get their valid permanent voters card.

"The voters card is important because as christians, the greatest transformative bequeathal we can make to our society is godly and righteous leadership. This can only happen through participation in our electoral process; and the voters card qualifies us for that.

"Merry Christmas to you, my people", he concluded.
The Christian period of Advent usually ends with the Christmas celebration which for 2021 fell on Saturday, 25th December, 2021. The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday and Tuesday, 27th and 28th December as public holidays or work-free days to enable christians celebrate the Christmas with their families and loved ones.
