PDP Faithfuls troop out to conduct party ward Congress in Ebonyi.
Party faithfuls of the People's Democratic Party PDP, in Ebonyi state trooped out in their numbers to conduct the party ward Congress across the 171 wards in the state.
Ali Odefa, National Vice Chairman of PDP, southeast zone while speaking with journalists during the Congress at Ogudu Okwor ward Oshiri council, said the party adopted option A4 and the Congress went smoothly.
Odefa said everybody was carried along, and things went orderly and were equitably shared.
"The Congress in Ebonyi state is very peaceful because everything is discussed, everybody is carried along there's no rancor in the state. We harmonized, everywhere is harmonized and we are not expecting any skirmishes.
"We zoned PDP chairmanship to Ebonyi south and like you heard the state chairman say, the governorship has been zoned to the Abakaliki Bloc, that way everything is done peacefully. The present governor before he left for APC came on the platter of Equity, justice, and fairness, so we want to maintain that equity and fairness in all our political doings. In that way, rancor and violence will be drastically reduced. We are using option A4".
Hon Fred Udeogu, the party caretaker chairman while addressing journalists in Abakaliki assured the party members that all the Congresses will be rancor-free in the state.
"We have started our Congress today and this Congress comes in three phases, the ward, local government, and state. We are only 8 states conducting the Congress, though this morning I got information that there is a court injunction in Borno State.
"The election may not hold there because we are an obedient party. Apart from that in order states, we are freely carrying out the Congress. The exercise in the state will be rancor-free because we have made all the necessary arrangements. We are doing the much we can to make sure we add a new value to our party. Our men are already in the field once they are done they will bring the results. The electoral officers coming from Abuja are already around.
"This is Congress, where it calls for harmonization, we do so, we are not here dictating for what the Congress will do, the main thing is that there should be Congress.
He urged the PDP supporters to make sure they play the game according to the rules, stressing that there will be nothing like an imposition, "any act of imposition should be reported to us here. But by the structures we have on the ground, there may not be room for that but because human beings are what they are and politics is what it is we have to be careful with unknown aspects of life".
In Ishiagu Ivo local government, the member representing Ohanivo federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Livinus Makwe described the Congress as peaceful.
The lawmaker explained that Loyal active members who wanted their previous position were returned.
He corroborated what zonal party vice-chairman Odefa said that all the wards in the area were harmonized and the Congress was conducted smoothly.
He enjoined the party faithfuls to remain resolute that the major stakeholders are together and are working for the interest of the electorate.
