Gov. Umahi sacks Education supervisors in Secondary, primary schools.

Ebonyi state Governor, Chief David Umahi yesterday directed the immediate sack of all Zonal Education Supervisors serving in the state secondary and primary schools system.

The governor all directed authorities concerned to reshuffle serving headmasters and principals of both junior and senior secondary schools.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the state Government, Dr Keneth Ugballa and made available to NewsDirect and directed all concerned to strictly adhere to the directives.

The statement also directed that all the Education Secretaries that were on leave are to face disciplinary action so as to ascertain the level of their involvement in the alleged fraud in the system.

It was gathered that Governor Umahi took this decisions at the end of an emergency meeting held at the Presidential Lodge, New Government House, Abakaliki with stakeholders in the education sector on Wednesday.

It also directed all the local government areas in the state to organize education and health summit to re - evaluate their education and health system and make useful suggestions on how to make the system more functional.

The statement reads “All the Education Secretaries that were on leave are to face disciplinary action to ascertain the level of their involvement in the fraud in our education system. Consequently, all the Education Secretaries that were on leave are hereby removed from office.

“All Teachers, Headmasters and Principals (both Junior and Senior) are to be reshuffled within their Local Government Areas while Local Government Chairmen are to liaise with concerned authorities to carry out this directive.“Zonal Education Supervisors are by this announcement removed from their offices.

“All Local Government Areas in Ebonyi State are to organize education and health submits to reevaluate our education and health systems and make useful suggestions on how to make the systems more functional. This will be coordinated by the office of Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner from 1st July 2021.

“All the Headmasters and Principals of schools are hereby directed to ensure regular cleaning of their school premises and also, every pupil, students and staff members of each school are to plant at least one tree and this should be supervised by the 13 Council Chairmen in their various LGAs.
