The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has expressed shock over the death of Mr Funso Muraina, a Senior Editor with the ThisDay Newspaper saying that the demise of the journalist was another big blow to the pen profession.

        Dr Mimiko who described the late Muraina whom he met in the early 1990s when he was then the Ondo State Editor of The Punch Newspapers before he joined ThisDay as hard working, dedicated and a scholar, regretted that by his demise, he has lost “a personal friend”.

        The Governor in a release issued on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi while condoling with Fatimah, Muraina's wife, also a journalist, the Children and the entire Muraina Family of Iseyin also condoled with the Board, Management and Staff of The ThisDay Newspaper.

        “On behalf of my family and the good people of Ondo State, I want to commiserate with the wife, children and the entire Muraina Family.  I also want to condole with the Management and Staff of ThisDay Newspaper over the sudden death of my personal friend, Funso.

        “Funso was a quintessential journalist, brilliant, fearless, dedicated and hard working.  He was a true lover of the pen profession; so much so that even when he qualified as a lawyer, he still stuck to his firs love, journalism.

        “By his death, another big blow has been dealt the Journalism Profession.  We pray that Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest,” the release quoted the Governor as saying.
