N1,500 Robbery Proceed lands man in trouble in Ekiti

For allegedly providing shelter for armed robbers at a price of N1, 500, a middle aged man, Sunday Eze is now being prosecuted by the Ekiti State Government.

Sunday Eze, a native of Eporo-Ekiti allegedly provided for four armed robbers, who robbed one Abdul Ibrahim and was compensated with N1, 500 when the robbers were leaving his residence.

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Gboyega Oyewole made this known in a release issued in Ado-Ekiti today.

He said the accused made confessional statement that the robbers came to his house and told him their mission, promising to give him share of the proceed from their crime if he could shelter them.

The Attorney General, who reiterated the ministry's commitment to prompt prosecution of arrested suspected criminals in the State, urged the judiciary to see to the prompt conclusion of criminal cases pending before various courts in the State.

He disclosed that four persons, who allegedly robbed the residents of Number 83, Isato Quarters, Ado-Ekiti on April 8, 2007 are still being prosecuted.

He gave the names of the foru accused persons as Oke Ige, Bunmi Musa, Omotayo Korede and Sola Oladimeji.

They were apprehended a few days after the robbery incident and are said to have confessed to committing the crime.

The commissioner also disclosed that one Sule Seidu, who on January 28, 2008 allegedly set the farm of one Alhaji Azeez Apempe ablaze is also among the several suspects being prosecuted by the ministry.

He said that an eye witness, Ibikunle Ropo had narrated how Sule and three men suspected to be members of Oodua People's Congress (OPC), set the farm ablaze and took to their heels afterwards.

Oyewole warned youths in the State against criminal acts, adding that the State Government will always ensure that criminal suspects are prosecuted and that no offender is allowed to escape justice.
