JOS, July 07, (THEWILL) - The Plateau State government has said that last Monday's attack on a village by suspected cattle rustlers which led to the death of one herdsman did not happen in its territory but in Kaduna State.


The Plateau State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Gregory Yenlong who was reacting to the killing said the attack took place in Kisati village in Kaura local government of Kaduna State.


He said this has been further confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State, Mr. Tambari Mohammed, who personally witnessed the burial of the victim along with the Garrison Commander, 1st Division and the state Director of Security of Kaduna state command on Monday July 05, 2010".


The Special Task Force STF in Jos had on Monday confirmed that some armed men numbering about 200 had at about 12:30pm launched an attack on Ganawuri village and Riyom local government of Plateau State".


Spokesman of the STF Col. Kingsley Umoh said several houses were torched, while properties were looted and over hundred cows stolen during the attack.

But the Plateau State government through the commissioner clarified that the incident did not take place at Ganawuri or anywhere else in Plateau state.


He said, "this position has been corroborated by the Plateau State Commissioner of Police Ikechukwu Aduba who clarified that the ugly incident took place at Kisati village in Kaura local government of Kaduna State."
