ABDUCTED ONDO PDP CHAIRMAN REGAINS FREEDOM

The Chairman, Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Omotayo Dairo  who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen during the weekend has regained his freedom.

Daily Sun gathered that Dairo, a native of Idamrejin Idanre Local Government Area was freed yesterday  afternoon by his abductors.

Although, he has not returned home as at the time of filing in this report, the state Publicity Secretary, Chief Yemi Adedipe confirmed that the PDP Chieftain had been released by his abductors.

Adedipe was unable to confirm also, whether the family paid any ransom to the kidnappers before securing the release of their breadwinner.

The captors of the PDP chairman had placed a N50 million ransom on him before they could set him free.

They insisted that they would not settle for anything less than the demand put before the family members.

Dairo, a medical doctor was kidnapped on Saturday along Benin/Ore highway  while travelling to Edo State for a crucial meeting.

Dairo, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, had  earlier in the day attended a caucus meeting of the state chapter of the party, held at Iju Odo in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

Daliy Sun however learnt that the driver of the vehicle, Sola Abidoye was released on Sunday. The driver was  kidnapped alongside his boss at the Okada area of the Benin axis.

The party's Publicity Secretary, Yemi Adedipe thanked all Nigerians for their concern since the PDP chairman was kidnapped.

He said, 'We are happy to inform you that our able Chairman has regained his freedom. We want to sincerely thank Nigerians for their concern. We want to express our gratitude to both Ondo and Edo States' police command for their brave efforts.' Adedipe who said that the Chairman was on his way back to Akure, also thanked party supporters for their commitement and steadfastness.
