344 schoolboys abducted last Friday from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, have been handed over to Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State.

Recall that the Katsina State governor yesterday evening announced that 344 abducted Kankara Students were released in Tsafe, Zamfara State and would be transported to Katsina today. The governor further stated that no ransom was paid for their release.

At about 9:30 this morning, the released students were brought to Government House in Katsina under very tight security, where they were handed over to the governor.

Present at the event were the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Mr Sanusi Buba, the Brigade Commander, State Director DSS, Civil Defence and all the State Executives. Also present at the handing over ceremony was DCP Abba Kyari who oversees the Police Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT). It is strongly being speculated that he may have contributed enormously to the rescue of the students.

The students will proceed to the State Haji Camp for medical debriefing before being released to their parents.
