Gov Zulum Commands FG for releasing N3.5 billion for Construction of10, 000 Houses for IDPs as Intervention Fund

Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has commended Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the release of N3.5 billion for the first phase of the 10,000 housing intervention to support the rebuilding and resettlement process of IDPs the state.

The Governor made the commendation Wednesday when he paid an inspection visit to the 1000 Housing units under construction in Dalori village , a suburbs of Maiduguri City in Konduga Local Government Area of the state said,"Federal Government has released the sum of N3.5 billion for the first phase of it's housing intervention program in the state."

"Federal government has released the sum of N3.5 billion to the Borno state government for the first phase of it's housing intervention in the state and we have judiciously utilized the fund. We are constructing 1000 houses here in Dalori village and another one in Kalameri village.

"Both of them have reached 70 percent completion and we are going to write to the Federal government for the release of more funds", Zulum said.

The governor added that Federal government has also released the sum of N1.3 billion through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) farming and another sum of N352 million to the Festival Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management as Livelihood Support to IDPs as they return to their Communities.

Zulum added that the state government will also compliment the effort of the Federal government by constructing healthcare facilities and water supply among others.

The governor said " you can see here at the 608 housing units which have reached about 79 percent completion. The state government is also going to drill 2 boreholes and hospital for the housing units here in Dalori to compliment the Federal government.

"We are constructing 1000 housing units each in Minnguno, Gwoza, and Damboa LGAs. We are also planning to close all the IDPs camps in Maiduguri on or before May 29 2021," Zulum said.

While commending President Buhari, the federal ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Agriculture, as well as North East Development Commission for their Interventions, Governor Zulum assured all the IDPs that federal and state governments are committed to rebuilding back their houses.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen at Dalori resident, Ali Modu thanked the Federal government and the Borno state Governor for the construction of the houses, stressing that the construction of the houses have not only provided them with shelter but also create job opportunitues to their teeming youths who were involved the construction.
