Over 100,000 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in various parts of Borno and neighbouring states have been evacuated back to their ancestral homes.

Governor Babagana Zulum told the State House correspondents on Friday after his meeting with President Buhari in Abuja.

He added that security was established in all the places the IDPs were to be returned before they were conveyed back, saying that such had given them the courage to resume agricultural activities.

Zulum further expressed his delight over the general security situation in Borno that had improved tremendously, stressing that if the tempo is sustained, attainment of permanent peace would be possible in the near future.

According to him, he was at the State House to intimate the President with the development and to seek the sustenance of his support towards ending the lingering insurgence.

The governor added that his administration had introduced various measures to empower the youths economically to dissuade them from associating with enemies of state.

He also condemned the destruction of lives and property that followed the recent EndSARS protest, and warned the youths against the dangers inherent in allowing bad elements to manipulate them.
