His Excellency
Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi
Executive Governor
Enugu State

Your Excellency Sir,

MESSAGE OF GOODWILL AND SOLIDARITY

On behalf of the State Working Committee and members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu State Chapter, it is our pleasure to convey our warm felicitations to Your Excellency as well as the good people of Enugu State on the occasion of the celebration of Nigeria's 60th Independence Anniversary.
We also to congratulate Your Excellency on the conferment of a Fellow by the Institute of Peace, Conflict and Development Studies (IPCDS), Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

There is no doubt that Your Excellency has redefined the governance process and political engagement in Enugu State through your several peace initiatives and disposition to listen and accommodate all shades of opinion irrespective of political or religious leaning.

We are thankful to God for using Your Excellency as an instrument for the reconciliation of warring parties in the State; your commitment and ability to resolve the intractable Oruku-Umuode conflict, which has defied earlier solutions. Your Excellency's devotion to the pursuit of peace has resulted in the inauguration by your administration of the State Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee with that task of identifying and nipping in the bud, potential conflict triggers in our communities and even between individuals.
We salute Your Excellency's wisdom in maintaining a cordial relationship with all the political leaders in Enugu state. It is heartwarming that while some governors are at war with the National Assembly members from their states, Your Excellency hosted all the National Assembly members from Enugu state to a dinner to commemorate our independence anniversary.
It is to the benefit of Enugu state in general and an eloquent testimony of the goodwill of Your Excellency in particular that all the members of the National Assembly from Enugu state are at liberty to attract as many constituency projects as they can.
We are delighted that Your Excellency has been widely acknowledged for probity and prudence in scarce resource management. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) published recently that Enugu state is in the list of 10 states that excelled in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). The other states in the Enugu exemplar include Lagos, Delta, Kaduna, Ogun, Kano, Akwa Ibom and FCT. This is a profound achievement for a jurisdiction with a poor federal revenue allocation that has neither a sea port nor a thriving international airport.
The above extraordinary feat reveals the unique uninterrupted massive rural infrastructural revolution, human capital development and regular payment of salaries and pensions to retired civil servants of Enugu state before the end of every month.
Ohanaeze notes that the Enugu sterling performance in internal revenue generation is a product of conscious effort in stimulating rural economy, enviable security, veritable peace and inter-sectorial harmony. The Enugu serenity has created the enabling environment for the inhabitants to develop their ingenuity, creativity, skills and investments in various areas of human endeavor.

As we celebrate our 60th birthday as a nation, we are persuaded that the spirit of peace and unity which you have preached and practiced will renew our collective commitment to the good of our people, not just in Enugu State but also across Nigeria as a whole.
We know that the road to this destination is difficult and strewn with thorns and thistles but God is always faithful and just to guide and protect Your Excellency.

On this occasion Sir, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu State Chapter hereby reiterates our commitment as partners in the development of our State in the overall interest of our people. Please Sir accept the assurances of our esteemed regards. Congratulations!

Yours Faithfully

Hon. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia
