The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Ebonyi state, Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi has decried the increasing wave of insecurity, food scarcity, youth restiveness, unemployment and diversion of Public funds into private accounts in the country.

He observed that, if the issue of management of resources and leadership were properly addressed, Nigeria as a country would regain it’s lost glory.

Nwebonyi who stated this while briefing Newsmen in Abakaliki on the state of the Nation stressed that the country was gradually sliding into a failed State, if nothing drastic was done to stern the tide of corruption, insecurity and unemployment bedeviling the country.

According to him, Nigeria as a country was still performing below expectations, considering the dreams and aspirations of the Country’s Founding fathers.

The Chairman attributed the problem of the country to lack of proper management of resources including leadership adding that Nigeria is now the most underdeveloped nation’s in terms of the utilization of its natural endowments to prosper her people.

He said: “We have not started vis-a-vis the aspirations of our Founding fathers. Insecurity is on the rise, scarcity of food is on the increase. Unemployment and poverty are also on the rise. It is our duty to reshape this country to a nation that will provide jobs for the teeming Youths.

“We are moving to a failed nation but we have not reached there. President Buhari is not the problem of Nigeria but his lieutenants. We need a leader who is fit, competent. Ruwanda and Ghana are now above Nigeria. Nigeria is now the most underdeveloped nation’s in terms of the utilization of its natural endowments to prosper her people.

"Public funds should not be shared by elites. We are on transit. We need to make the masses happy. We need to be honest and prudent. Am submitting that the presidency should be zoned to the South East zone. PDP believes in the rule of law. There is no day that Nigerians are not being slaughtered in this country. There is no Governor in the APC that has surpassed Governor Umahi in administration.

“Lack of proper management of resources is our problem including leadership too. We have gotten it right in Ebonyi because we have a Governor who believes that occupying a public office is not an avenue to amass wealth. I want to call on him to run for President. In all sense of judgment, the Governor has performed very well in Governance. We cannot continue to recycle old leaders

He mentioned the achievements of the Governor in the area of massive infrastructural development, human capital development, increase in the Internal Generated Revenue, IGR, of the State and security of lives and properties, boasted that no Governor on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, can surpass the achievements of Governor Umahi in the past five years.
