Samson Siasia may be named Super Eagles coach, with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) suspected to have decided against keeping Lars Lagerback.

The executive committee of the NFF is meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, and an announcement may be made as early as Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.

Top officials of the body met over the weekend in Johannesburg, and a decision was taken to make a clean break with the current set-up and go for a fresh start, with Siasia emerging as the popular choice.

John Obuh, who led the Under-17 team to silver at last year's World Cup in Nigeria, is expected to be his assistant.

A top NFF official informed that although the body wanted to keep Lagerback, and had offered him a chance to stay, the fderation's precarious financial position means it would be unable to afford his wages, even if it is significantly reduced.

Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi and Alloy Agu, who assisted the Swede, will also go.

'It is a drastic measure to bring change,' a top official said.

However, disagreements remain within the NFF exco, with certain members unhappy on the choice of Siasia, who is seen as too uncompromising and unwilling to toe the line.
