Crowd attend Osun Osogbo festival against govt ban over COVID-19

A crowd of Osun worshippers, traditionalists and spectators today attended the annual Osun Osogbo festival against the ban by the state government to avoid further spread of Coronavirus in the state.

The state government had announced a ban on gathering for Osun festival but crowd surged to palace of Osogbo monarch and the Osun Sacred Grove for the event.

The Nigerian Voice gathered that Osun worshipers from Lagos and other parts of the country arrived Osogbo few days to the festival to beat government restriction.

The security operatives deployed to enforce the ban were overwhelmed as the large crowd thronged the Osun shrine.

Some government officials and political appointees who were not Osun priest also attended the festival in flagrant disregard to government ban.

Some of the people used nose cover but majority of them did not use it. The palace and the grove were crowded as they failed to obey social distancing.
