Chief of Army Staff Commission's 7 Div NA Delta Camp Quick ResponseForce (Photos)

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur. Yusuf Buratai has commissioned the newly establshed Delta Camp Quick Response Force building at the 7 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri Thursday to attend to distress and quick response calls within the Maiduguri metropolis and it's environs.

He said the Delta Camp Force Base establishment was a demonsstratiion to give hope and confidence for the essence of the force to provide quick response when required while commending deliberately the 7 Division Command to commemorate the 2020 NADCEL with the establishment of the Delta Camp Force.

The COAS who was represented by the Theater l Commander, Operation Lafiyà Dole, Theater Command Headquarters Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Major General Farouk Yahaya while commissioning the project at the 7 Division Headquarters Maiduguri Thursday, said the annual event of the NA known as NADCEL this year was flagged off at Paskari town of Katsina state on 1st July 2020 and expected to be concluded on 6h July 2020.

He explained that the Delta Camp Force Base was purposely created to enhance operations of the NA while other programmes lined up to mark the NADCEL 2020 include Commissioning of 7 Division: CAMP DELTA QUICK REACTION FORCE BASE on Thursday 2nd July, 2020 at the Headquarters 7 Division Complex.

Others include the Commissioning of HQ THEATRE COMMAND: COMBATO BUILDING on Thursday 2nd, July 2020 at the HQ THEATRE COMMAND, Environmental Sanitation/Cleaning Exercise on Friday 3rd, July 2020 at Baga Road Market Maiduguri and a Medical Outreach/Distribution of Palliatives on Saturday 4th, July 2020 at Ngomari Custain Community Primary School Maiduguri .

General Buratai urged the troops make the best use of the camp Base by always be prepared and respond to distress calls successfully, to respond directly to calls and fight all forms of criminalities and Insurgency to achieve the mandate of the CIAS and NA by professionally being responsive.

He however commended the GOC for his initiative and efforts in seeing to the establishment of the Delta Camp Quick Response Force and other successful achievements , stressing that, the NA remained committed to the welfare of the troops and support to end the fight against insurgents and other criminal elements in protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

COAS thanked the theater Commander and GOC for the commitment and determination in the fight against the Insurgency for establishing Delta Camp Force at the 7 Division Headquarters and Combato at the Operation Lafiyà Dole Headquarters to mark the NADCEL 2020 successfully.

Earlier, the Acting General Officer Commanding ( GOC) , 7 Division NA Headquarters Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Brigadier General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim said," NADCEL it is an annual event being organized by the NA to showcase acheivements of the NA from 1st July to 6th July every year across the country".

The GOC added' "The Camp Delta is essentially a 7 Division Quick Reaction Force Base meant to project force for reinforcement or offensive operations in line with the Army Super Camp Concept, with the operationalization of the Base today. MMC and environs are better protected and more secured."

"The project was later approved to be constructed and today, it is ready for Commissioning with the support and encouragement of the COAS who was always putting me on sound footing which continuously encouraged me to be committed to the project coherently and ensure that it is successfully commissioned.

"I also thank the Theater Commander, Major General Farouk Yahaya for his advise and guidance encouragingly and my Senior officers as well as engineers and soldiers for their support and cooperation", Abdul said.

The Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) is an annual event organised from 1 - 6 July to honour serving and retired members of the Nigerian Army (NA) and also to showcase combat capability of the NA amongst other achievements. The NADCEL 2020 grand finale is scheduled to hold at FASKARI in Katsina State.

While the DELTA CAMP project was initiated and constructed by the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Brigadier General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim to be commissioned as part of the activities lined up to mark this important event in all Army formations and units across the country which had commenced on 1st July 2020 with Press Conference by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai at the NA Headquarters Abuja.

Highlights of th event were presentation of gifts and souvenirs by the GOC to the Theater Commander, NAOWA State Chairman 7 Division NA Headquarters Maiduguri, Hajiya Halimatu Safiya A. K. Ibrahim, senior Military officers from NA Headquarters, 7 Division NA Headquarters , State Security Chiefs, CSOs, NGOs, and Police Community Relations Chairman among others.

Vote of thanks was delivered by the Chief of Staff, 7 Division NA Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Bri. Gen. I. Otu who appreciated all and thanked COAS, TC, GIC, Unit Commanders, NAOWA, other security agencies , media and other personalities for honouring the invitation.
