Gov. Umahi Reconstructs General Hospitals To Contain Spread Of Covid - 19.

Ebonyi state governor, Chief David Umahi said his administration has commenced reconstruction and upgrade of the thirteen general hospitals in the state.

The governor made this known in a weekly state wide live broadcast after security council meeting which he does to update the people on the state of the pandemic.

He said that the essence of the reconstruction is to equip the hospitals to a level they will be able to handle covid 19 cases.

He urged the Commissioner of Health, Dr Daniel Umezuruike not to pay those of them who work in the general hospitals and don't go to work, stressing that it is a criminal act to collect salary for work not done.

He expressed shock over the increasing rate of covid 19 cases in the state and enjoined the citizens to ensure that they put the precautionary measures in place to avoid contracting the disease.

Chief Umahi announced to the surprise of all that the state has recorded a total of 152 index cases while over 100 patients have been successfully discharged.

He disclosed that his administration would soon set up a committee that will be arresting those who don't wear nose mask at least to make them conscious of the dreaded disease.

Meanwhile, the governor has sworn in a former federal lawmaker, Hon. Lazarus Ogbee as a member of state Executive council with a charge to carry out his statutory duties without fear or favour.

Hon.Ogbee was sent packing by an appeal court sitting in Enugu which nullified his election result where he was declared winner by INEC.

Umahi said that the federal lawmaker will serve as Commissioner for inter ministerial affairs.
