Tension over gruesome murder of A pregnant postgraduate student Of University of Ibadan

The African's largest City, Ibadan, Oyo State has been soaked in tension in the last couple of days over the gruesome murder of a pregnant postgraduate student of the University of Ibadan (UI), Azezat Somuyiwa.

The Nigerian Voice gathered that a 29-year-old Azezat was killed at Ijefun Community, Moniya Akinyele Local Government Area of the state on 5th June, 2020 in a circumstance similar to that of Baraka Bello, the 18-year-old girl that was murdered at Oloro Area, Akinyele LGA also in Ibadan on 31st May.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu said Azezat might have been murdered for ritual.

Findings by The Nigerian Voice revealed that the assailants smashed big stone on Azezat head when the pregnant postgraduate student was killed.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Oyo State Police Command, SP. Fadeyi Olugbenga said the deceases was not a post graduate student of University of Ibadan and insisted that her murder seemed similar to that of a ritual killing.

But the Student Union of the university confirmed that the late Azeezat was a student of UI.

The President of University of Ibadan Students Union, Akeju Olusegun said the student body wants justice for Azeezat.

Akeju said Azeezat was a student of Social work department, Faculty of Education in UI. He confirmed that the deceased was 7 months pregnant.

He said "We hope the perpetrators of this evil act are brought to book as soon as possible as we demand justice for Azeezat. #JusticeforAzeezat"
