Court remand 27-years-old man for rape

A magistrate court in Osogbo today remanded a 27-years-old man, Niyi Oluwafemi for allegedly raping a 17-years-old girl, Abiodun Iyanu.

The Police prosecutor, ASP Idoko John told the court that the accused person committed the offence on 17th of May, 2020 at Oke-Yidi in Gbongan.

The prosecutor said that the accused person unlawfully and indecently assaulted the teenager.

The prosecutor said the offence committed by the accused person was contrary to and punishable under section 358 and 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

The accused person leaded not guilty of the offence levelled against him.

The Defense Counsel, Tunbosun Oladipupo applied for the bail of the accused person.

The prosecutor opposed the bail of the accused person, claiming that the victim is in critical situation and receiving treatment in the hospital.

The Magistrate Modupe Awodele remanded the accused person in police custody and transferred to Gbongan Magistrate court. The Magistrate adjourned till 8th of June, 2020.
