LaLiga have confirmed that five players in the Spanish top two divisions have tested positive for Covid19, but didn't disclose the identity or the clubs of the players.

The players will now be placed in isolation and will be tested in the coming days to see if they are still infected. La Liga also said they would offer tests to the families of the affected players.

In an official release, the football body said: "Specifically, between the LaLiga Santander [first division] and LaLiga SmartBank [second division] clubs, five positive cases have been detected in players, all of them asymptomatic and in the final phase of the disease, whose specific identity La Liga does not know in compliance with the laws on data protection."

The league have beefed up the testing of players and staffs as several clubs returned to their club's training facilities last week and as a result, clubs have started training again following an extended break to the Spanish season, which has extended across all major leagues in Europe and around the world.

Among the clubs is Atletico Madrid, who returned to training on Saturday amid reports Renan Lodi has tested positive for coronavirus. Barcelona also returned to training as Rakitiç, Messi and some other stars were seen in the Barcelona training complex.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are due to resume training for the first time in two months on Monday, while La Liga has said it hopes matches will resume, without spectators, by June.
