Accepting the inevitable change forced upon the world by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government of Anambra State has successfully held the first online meeting of its bi-weekly Executive Council Meeting (EXCO) today, Monday May 4, 2020.

The meeting which was presided over by the Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano himself had all EXCO members in virtual attendance and making robust contributions to deliberations on the major issues of the day.

Anambra’s first online meeting of the Executive Council members is a major component of the overall strategy of the state to lead the campaign for a new way of doing things as demanded by the sad realities of the Covid-19 pandemic from the front.

It is also a symbolic effort to demonstrate to Ndi Anambra that they must never forget the wise ancestral saying by Eneke the bird that since men had learned how to shoot without missing, he too had learned how to fly without perching.

The meeting touched on several burning issues in the state, ranging from the steps being taken by the government to prevent the spread of the rampaging pandemic in the state, the distribution of palliative materials, steps being taken to ensure that the lamp does not go out in the education sector as well as the recent efforts to resume aggressive patching of roads in the state after a short break among many others.

It is believed that in hosting Anambra’s first ever online Executive Council meeting, Governor Willie Obiano is symbolically telling the people not only to embrace the uncomfortable changes foisted on them by Covid-19 but to turn those changes to their own advantage.
