All is Set for the distribution of palliative in Ebonyi", Speaker.

Ebonyi state government said all is set for the distribution of palliative to the people of Ebonyi state.

Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Chairman of the State’s Fundraising and Welfare Committee, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, made this known in Abakaliki, the administrative city of Ebonyi state.

The Speaker said that Ebonyi state Governor, Chief David Umahi had made provisions for food items and condiments that would get to everyone in the State.

He also said that at least 200 persons per polling unit across the 1,785 polling units in the State, would benefit adding that the palliative would get to everyone both the rich and the poor.

Mr Nwifuru announced that representatives of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, the All Progressives Congress APC and the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN have been inaugurated for the smooth distribution of Federal and State government palliatives.

Others included in the joint committee are Village heads, government representatives and another nominee from other political parties active in different polling units in the state.

The Speaker said to avoid hijack by desperate politicians in the state, the materials will move straight from the State to the polling units/villages.

“We have formed committee to ensure smooth distribution of the palliatives. The distribution would be clearly non-partisan. A polling unit committee has been formed, consisting of one PDP nominee, APC nominee, CAN nominee, Village Head and Government representative (either civil or public servant from the village).

“Other nominees includes, other political parties active in a certain polling unit. The materials will move straight from the State to the polling units/villages. There will be no stop overs at local governments or ward levels to prevent the issues of stakeholders.

“Party officials, State, LGA Chairmen, Ward Councillors and all other political appointees from the units will act as monitoring teams.”

"The state Governor has made provisions for food items and condiments that will reach everyone in the State, estimating 200 persons per polling unit across the 1785 polling units in the State”.

“His Excellency has done almost everything. He has directed that all workers (Federal, State and Local Government) be accommodated. When we roll out these palliatives, I’m sure it will get to everyone in Ebonyi State, be you the rich, stakeholder, worker and poorest of the poor.”
