We Are Ready To Fight Crime, Enforce Govt Directives in Delta --- Police Commissioner

Following unabated criminal activities in Delta State, the State Command of the Nigerian Police Force said it is ready to weed out criminal elements from the state.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, assured that men of the Command are combat-ready to check criminal activities.

He disclosed that he would enforce government’s directives in relations to COVID-19 pandemic in all parts of the state.

He urged Deltans to provide useful information on criminals, comply with government directives and embrace the principles and practice of effective community policing to enhance crime fighting.

He said this in an exclusive interview in Asaba, saying that information was key to better performance of security agencies, he pointed out that without credible intelligence gathering, security agencies could only do little and called on Deltans to cooperate with the police and other security agencies by making available critical information on activities of criminals in their areas.

On community policing, the police commissioner said the Inspector- General of Police already had a template for its take-off and directed that every state command put in place an advisory committee comprising of all segments of society, realizing that security was the responsibility of everyone.

Inuwa equally spoke on the security challenges as it concern Issele- Azagba community, assuring that the command was on top of the situation with a lot of arrests as well as regular patrol of the area by different units of police crack teams 24 hours a day.

The police commissioner disclosed that plans were underway to establish a police division in Issele-Azagba to beef up security in the community but noted that the challenge there was more or less internal and called on the people to cooperate with police to effectively check crime in the area.

Inuwa also unveiled measures put in place to check crime and enforce government’s directives during post COVID-19 lockdown era. He disclosed that the command was proactive and had mapped out strategies to check crime and ensure that ‘our borders are closed’ as ordered by government.

The CP , who spoke on other security issues, assured Deltans that the police command under his control was ever ready to secure lives and property as criminals were finding the state unsafe for their evil activities.
