April 9: Blessed in A Dark Word

By Bassey Ekong

Psalm 33:12(NIV) states,“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,

the people he chose for his inheritance.” All true Christians are the people God has chosen and called out to inherit the kingdom of heaven. Again, we’re further encouraged to seek and remain in the kingdom of God as stated in Psalm 1:1-3 (KJV), Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

We’re so blessed that many Christians have begun to lose their kingdom identity. They’ve started to take God for granted. We have lost sight of Matthew 6:33 (KJV), God always allows us to make mistakes provided we run back to Him with a penitent heart. That could explain why the whole world is in a lock down as a result of this pandemic. The world has gone bunkers for money and material wealth so much that, it matters not how many souls are dying provided governments and big international corporations make awful amounts of money, live a laser fair life style and put hindrances for the well-being of the younger generations.

There’re so many theories and coverups going on in the face of the current pandemic. However, none of that offers any suggestion for a cure or the easing of it. people are dying, lives are destroyed, communities are facing threats of being wiped out and nobody cares well enough to remember to seek the kingdom of heaven and its righteousness. Therefore, God has called us out again as He did of old when He instructed Israel to begin to humble himself and pray; He will heal our land and restore our lives to normalcy. (see 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV).

Christians all over the world are therefore, invited to a special season of prayer, even without fasting but to pray at their local time at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 and to repeat it on Saturday, April 11 at 7:00 a.m. At your local time. Pray for one hour either alone or in a group. There’s real power when God’s people pray together. A prayer wave and a chain as such. This will make our prayer chain go around the globe for the 24-hour period. Believe it, the Lord will heal our nation only if every Christian who receives this message would feel compelled to join in this prayer program. The prayer points are these: 1). Pray for people who are affected by this disease pandemic suffering in hospitals. Pray also for those who suffer the loss of loved ones and those who have lost work and income due to this global problem. 2). Pray for doctors and nurses; the front-line workers. Ask God to give them strength and the love for their work as well as for protection for them, in the name of Jesus.

3. pray for leaders of the nations of the world. That they may lead wisely. Leaders in political positions as well as church leaders. Let God’s Spirit touch their hearts and help them make wise decisions. 4). pray for this season to pass quickly. That this pandemic condition will not be hanging over our heads for an indefinite time. That God will work miraculous intervention according to His will to wake us up to the reality of eternal things and help people to give their lives to Christ, not just for a time but for all time.

5. Pray to God that the gospel of Jesus Christ will overrule the plan of Satan. That the gospel will not be hindered, and that whatever laws and regulations may follow after this pandemic event may be such that all will lead a quiet and peaceable life of godliness and honesty for God’s grace to abound and bind Satan’s efforts forever. Our God is bigger than this problem. When we all ask, we’ll receive, in Jesus’ name. this approach will produce a double wave of prayer for a troubled world.

Let’s pray: Father, according to your promise, whatever we ask of you, we’ll receive. May these our repeated prayer waves receive your favor, in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
