Delta South Leaders Restate Support For Governor's Stronger Delta Mantra

Leaders of Delta South Senatorial District have vowed to remain steadfast towards Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's vision of building a Stronger Delta.

They stated this during an interactive session with Delta South Senatorial District Ethnic Nationalities Leaders, Clans/Communities Presidents-General, convened by the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Rural and Community Development, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro.

President General of Isoko Development Union, (IDU), Chief Iduh Amadhe, who doubles as the Patron, Isoko Nation Forum of Kingdoms Presidents-General at the occasion stressed that gas flaring, oil companies operation and herdsmen menace are some of the major problems facing the Delta South Senatorial District.

According to him, "Government should have the will-power to enforce the year 2020 deadline for the cessation of gas flaring and convert it to electricity for our communities.

"They should employ our people into the oil companies by way of protecting our communities from the principle of divide & rule and also for the state government to put in place security measures to avoid further harassment and killings by the herdsmen", Iduh stressed.

Also speaking, Second Vice Chairman of the Delta State Forum of Kingdoms Presidents-General, Prince Okotie, on behalf of the forum commended Governor Okowa on his developmental strides across the state.

"Let me thank His Excellency for creating the Office of the Special Adviser on Rural & Community Development, which has created opportunity for the government and the people in the grassroots to interact.

"This interaction no doubt is key to the actualisation of the Governor Okowa's Stronger Delta vision." he added

At the meeting, which was held in Isoko Development Union Secretariat, Oleh, in Isoko South Local Government Area of the State, Rt. Hon. Okoro informed the traditional leaders of the intentions of His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa to attract development to the grassroots through the establishment of an office specifically charged with rural & community development.

"As a man of the grassroots, Governor Okowa is engineering a process where community members, through their leaders, shall come together to take collective actions and generate solutions to common problems with the support of Government", Okoro stated

Earlier, the Special Adviser, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro and his team had sought the blessings of HRM, A. W. O. Ovrawha Omogha 1, the Odiologbo of Oleh Kingdom, at his Palace.

The monarch, overwhelmed by the visit, gave thanks to God Almighty and thanked Governor Okowa for his developmental strides across the state and enjoined all to work with the Governor in order to achieve his aim of building a Stronger Delta.

He further appreciated Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, his team and prayed for them to accomplish their goals for the continued development of the state, even as he pledges his solid support for Governor Okowa.

The meeting which was well attended by all President Generals in Delta South; Secretary of Isoko South LGA, Mr. Dennis Obrogo who represented Chairman of the local government, numerous sons and daughters of the senatorial district, also had the Isoko Cultural Group, who trilled the audience with their sweet songs and dance steps.
